It serves as a great reminder to me that the music comes above all else. My passion and love for music are the driving factors behind me being here today, and this song is only a reminder of that.

<image:caption>
My start in the music industry really came about through my first experience at Warner Chappell, but it didn't all start there. My start in the entertainment industry actually came from the film/TV world. I grew up as a background actor, working on hundreds of films, television shows, commercials, and even music videos from ages 6 to 18, and I was very engaged within that side of the industry. I always thought that my continued career would be within the film/TV space, until I dove deep into my love for music. The thing that I love about music is how it continues to support these artists throughout their careers, throughout their campaigns, album cycles, and the forever lifecycle of their catalogs.

I grew up being a huge fan and a little bit too chronically online, and that’s where my passion for music came about, especially in the worlds of marketing, artist development, and promotions. In 2020, during the pandemic, I really began to be interested in those aspects of the music industry, and while I didn't know it at the time, a lot of what I was doing was in the realm of what I want to do in my future, even if it was just me making my mom drive me to see Lady Gaga’s Chromatica billboard. When 13-year-old me was posting design edits and engaging with fan communities, I was actually engaging in a lot of the same ways that I do today and hope to do in my future. When I was non-stop promoting Ariana Grande’s Positions back in 2020 to help it reach #1, a lot of the same strategies I was using back then were still relevant, and they have even helped me in my career today. So, I credit being engaged within that world for my inspiration to take an interest in music and turn it into a full career!
</image:caption>

Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa’s album Future Nostalgia was one of the first albums I truly began to appreciate. I still remember being 13 and listening to this album at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, looking at it as more than just a mere music element. I credit this album, and more specifically, the marketing and the overall era that went into it, as one of the reasons I chose to explore the music industry as a full-time career. I remember being so invested in its chart performance and success at such a young age, and that’s really what made me look past standard music consumption.

                                            <image:caption>

</image:caption>

Before this experience, I didn’t have a full understanding of what the catalog division does at a music company. The experience of working hand-in-hand with the Creative Services department while assisting in building out the new catalog division at Warner Chappell truly inspired me to dive deep into the world of catalog, helping to revitalize iconic artists, deep catalog songs, and legendary Warner works. In helping build out the catalog team at Warner Chappell, I was able to genre-categorize over 1,000+ songwriters and artists, assist in brand development, help generate the current state of play for social media strategies for acts like The Smiths, develop one-pagers for Chappell songwriters, and truly dive deep within the Warner Chappell catalog by researching deep catalog tracks, creating pitch decks with snapshots of the entire Warner Chappell catalog, and creating proposal kits for Warner Chappell Production Music and for film/TV sync pitching.

One of the most memorable moments I had at Chappell was fleshing out a pitch deck for Cab Calloway, a legendary Warner artist and songwriter. In preparing this, I was able to highlight notable accomplishments, develop my own proposed ideas while looking at considerations and approvals, and even brainstorm my own brand partnership pitch ideas. The most rewarding part of this was meeting with Cab Calloway’s estate and team to pitch the ideas that I had ahead of "100 Years of Cab Calloway." Seeing just how a catalog can be revitalized from start to action, and being part of those artist pitches, really inspired me to continue on that journey.
</image:caption>

For Led Zeppelin, I researched their digital presence, DSPs, and social media activity, focusing on how to revitalize their iconic catalog. By doing this, I was also able to dive deep into the world of catalog music and experience new musical discoveries. Before my experience at Warner Chappell, I probably couldn’t name a single Led Zeppelin song. But now that I've had the opportunity to explore their music through my work, I have been able to truly discover, listen to, and appreciate their art!

A lot of the music I seek out is for authenticity, and I think "Sticky" by FKA twigs is a representative of that expression of authenticity. Not only is it one of my favorite songs by her, but I think it’s incredibly expressive of her and has a way of blending so many different genres of music. An artist like twigs has really opened me to different doors of genre discovering within the music industry, and the way that she isn't afraid to break barriers or take a risk is incredibly inspiring. I love artists who aren't afraid to be their most authentic versions of themselves, and I relate so much to that.

An artist might only be affiliated with Warner through publishing or have a joint deal with another company. I found it interesting seeing how non-linear the industry can be because I would include Bruno Mars for Chappell pitch decks, but when I transitioned to BMG, they included him in their publishing world.

My start at Rhino came from falling in love with the recording side of the music industry after gaining experience working at BMG. While I enjoyed my time in the catalog division at Warner Chappell, I truly fell in love with the recordings side during my time at BMG. It allowed me to help elevate marketing for specific campaigns, artists, and their overall work rather than just the song itself. I loved helping build out the brand that the artist was trying to convey to their audiences. When the opportunity to join the press and marketing team at Rhino came along, I knew it was the perfect fit. Not only do I love the WMG catalog, but I was also excited to support these major campaigns and projects. This role offered me the ideal chance to explore the press and publicity side of the industry, which is an area I have always been interested in but had never truly explored before.

INXS

One of the bands that I discovered while working here at Rhino was INXS. I had heard a couple of their songs before, but the name wasn't recognizable to me just yet. However, during my time at Rhino, I was able to do a deep dive into their catalog and body of work. By researching their current state of play using Chartmetric, Artist Packs, and Sodatone, I analyzed priority audience segments and demographics. I also researched their presence and user activity on TikTok to focus on optimizations, and requested Earworm ads for their hit songs. Having the opportunity to work on these brand briefs allowed me to truly understand the full scope of the band and their impact.

<image:caption>
One of the first tasks I set up on my first day at Rhino was tracking WMG's top 200 catalog artists using daily Google Alerts to follow publications and recent press articles. From day one, updating these daily alerts allowed me to truly understand, discover, and interact with Rhino's recorded catalog, which has been a huge help in my overall understanding of the work we do here.

One of the biggest lessons I want my future self to take away from this is the importance of deeply understanding the artists and projects you are working on. Taking the time to study the albums, songs, and histories behind a catalog of work makes a massive difference. I remember watching Ween documentaries and listening to their Spotify playlists just to understand the band, and doing that extra research truly helped me grasp their work so I could deliver my best effort on future projects.
</image:caption>

I have created brand briefs reporting on the current state of play and audience segments for artists, pulling from internal WMG platforms like Opus and artist packs, and external platforms like Sodatone and Chartmetric. I pulled these audience segments to retain core fans and re-engage new audiences for INXS, James Taylor, Black Sabbath, and more.

My work has also ranged from selecting and submitting earworm ad requests for Rhino artists, to brainstorming ideas for artists like The Doors and David Lee Roth, to searching TikTok and social channels for all content related to artists like the Doobie Brothers, and so much more. Additionally, I supported the press team by researching influences for an Ian Curtis exhibition from Joy Division, searching the catalog for Rhino’s Album of the Day highlight albums, and packaging and shipping press mailouts.

Through all of this, I have been more exposed to the music here at Warner Music and truly felt the value of my experience, especially diving into the marketing world and focusing on optimizing and revitalizing catalogs through optimizations and creative strategy.
One of the artists I’ve really had the chance to explore in these past few weeks is The Doors. Diving deep into what makes their music successful has completely turned me into a fan. Here at Rhino, I’ve been able to analyze their TikTok presence while also looking at further optimization for videos and live performances—covering everything from assessing social strategy to optimizing for streaming growth. The Doors have definitely been a foundational artist for my journey this summer, truly giving me an opportunity for a comprehensive look at all things marketing!

My experience at Warner Music Group has allowed me to understand the music industry and the different departments across the Warner Music family. In particular, I loved seeing the intersection between Warner Chappell and Rhino, especially with shared artists, such as how a sync placement at Warner Chappell can impact the strategy taken at Rhino. New Order

One of my favorite bands in the Warner family is New Order. One of the things that I learned about them is that they were born after the death of Joy Division’s Ian Curtis. Having worked on an Ian Curtis: Insight event in New York ahead of his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, it really made me look at New Order in a different way as a band. I think that one of the great things that I’ve had working here is being able to learn about artists and projects more so, and gain a new sense of love and appreciation for them.

From D2F to A&R, and through the Digital Commerce, Brand Management, and Marketing teams, I have explored the entire Rhino ecosystem. This experience has been extremely valuable; while I envision starting my career in marketing, I have gained a deep appreciation for how every department supports our shared mission at Warner. Some of my most significant insights have come from simply observing how these diverse teams collaborate to drive a single campaign forward.

I have learned so much by truly seeking to understand the work of those around me. If I were to offer advice to my future self, it would be to never stop listening. Some of my best learning has come from understanding what other teams are doing, whether they are contributing to the same artist campaign or working on something entirely different, and recognizing how those efforts intersect with my own.
(September 15th 2025)

Reflecting on my first day in office at Warner Music Group feels so long ago, even though it’s only been a few months, and a short period of my life in the grand scheme of things. My first day at WMG, I had not a clue what a global catalog meant, I wasn’t yet introduced to the world of publishing, and I truly felt unprepared to take on a role like this. I had just internally transferred to the Music Business program at NYU, and had only been in it for 2 weeks on my first day. But I knew that I loved music, and came in ready to learn more about the industry.

For my future self: remember this first day. Remember how scary it is to start a new position, and how easy it is to feel underqualified. I always want to look back at this moment to remind myself of how much I’ve grown, how much I’ve learned, and how incredibly supported I’ve been since the moment I walked through the NYC office doors.

My experiences at Warner Music have made me feel like I’ve grown so much in such a short period of time. One of the albums that most resembles a period of growth and change for me is Ray of Light by Madonna, and my favorite song from that album is “Swim.” I feel like this record marked a significant period of growth in Madonna’s career as an artist, and I almost feel like it mirrors the growth that I’ve been having in my own career. My experiences with Warner thus far have been a true period of growth, similar to how Madonna continues to evolve with each release she does.

I want my future self to remember that in this period, I truly learned the foundations of the rest of my career in the music industry: from researching artists and creating brand briefs to tracking sales, streaming, and social media data for artists, all the way to press mailouts. I know that with every step forward that I take within the industry, my career will be inspired and built upon all the growth that I've had here.

The Next Two Years:

As I head into my junior year at NYU, where I’m officially at the halfway point of my time in university, I am so grateful to be taking the experiences that I’ve had here at Rhino with me into my academic career. Studying Music Business, I strongly feel that my experience at NYU would have been so different had I not been here at WMG. Taking classes in music publishing while working at Warner Chappell has helped me see those concepts in practice at school, and has also helped me understand the business so much more at Chappell. Looking to my next years at NYU, I look forward to gaining more experiences within the music industry and hopefully remaining at Warner Music Group as an Emerging Talent Associate back in the New York office!

Being a part of the Stern & Tisch Entertainment Business Association club (STEBA) has been one of my favorite parts of attending NYU. I am currently a Marketing Coordinator and a mentor to students interested in the music industry! I have loved being able to use my experiences at WMG to support the club and new students! My favorite part, though, has to be meeting people in the Warner Music family who come to speak at our weekly panels!
Pop 2

When I reflect on my future, one of the first tracks that comes to mind is "Track 10" by Charli xcx. I think it has such a futuristic feel and sounds straight out of 2037 rather than 2017. While I’m not entirely sure what my next career direction will be, I am hopeful about my future within the music industry, especially here at Warner Music Group. I know that my experiences thus far as an ETA have provided me with opportunities, insights, and lessons that I’ll take with me for the rest of my career. Although I used this capstone as a reflection on my past year, I know that my future has so much more in store for me!

Reflecting on this past year, I definitely think that working in an area of marketing, promotions, or artist/brand strategy is the direction that I want to go into. I have loved being able to explore the different facets of the industry, and I know that they’re all so interconnected. I am hoping to explore the music industry more over the next few years, so I can be prepared for post-grad for how I want to enter my first full-time role in the music industry! I love having had the experience of working in both the LA & NYC offices, but it makes choosing between the two all the more difficult!
</image:caption>

Take advantage of each opportunity at Warner Music. Any opportunity to learn more about roles or departments, or to join an ERG meeting and learn about what different teams and divisions at WMG do, can help you do better in your own role.

Lean into collaboration and remember that collaboration and communication come first here at Warner. Seeing the intersection between Atlantic and Rhino, or even just all the departments within Rhino itself, is a reminder for my future self of how interconnected every team is when pushing toward the same goals.

Lean into your own ideas, protect and project your creative vision, and make your impact. From a lot of the people I've met, I've really gained the understanding that nobody has a rulebook on everything you need to know about the music industry since so much of it is fluid. Remember that your ideas matter, and try not to have impostor syndrome.

</image:caption>

PinkPantheress

I picked the song “Girl Like Me” by PinkPantheress just because of how fun it is; I think it’s a good reflection of the way that my experience at WMG thus far has been for me! I have truly had such an amazing time here, met so many amazing friends that I’ll forever have in this industry, and contributed to amazing music here at WMG! My biggest takeaway from this past year is that I wouldn’t have had it any other way, and I wanted to remind my future self of how enjoyable my first year working in the music industry has been, and I’m so grateful for that!
